Savills suggests that improved weather may have played a part in these figures, with the picture in January likely to have been affected by adverse conditions.

More positive economic signs may also have had a role to play, it is believed.

The last time commercial development activity grew at such a pace was in May of three years ago, the Savills results suggest.

When it comes to commercial properties, the Carbon Trust has confirmed that it is to collaborate with Threadneedle and Stanhope to refurbish a number of buildings in the UK with low carbon measures.
