Charities Masterclass:Enlightened Employee and Volunteer Engagement - Cambridge

22 Jun 2010

Charities are different from businesses because of the high level of volunteer involvement in charitable organisations. Many charities depend on their volunteer force to deliver essential services (often to vulnerable people); manage retail outlets; and fundraise – as well as volunteering to take on a role as trustee.

Effective utilisation of staff and volunteers is both an art and a science to engage and motivate at all levels and to ensure that individuals work together appropriately.  An enlightened approach to employee and volunteer engagement brings fresh thinking into a sector where motivation can take many different forms.

The Enlightened Engagement Masterclass will look beyond employment ‘best practice’ where the contractual nature of the employee relationship creates rights and obligations on both sides. An enlightened approach to employee engagement deploys a range of skills to raise performance and contribution.

For volunteers, where there is no formal legal structure to govern the relationship, effective engagement with volunteers aims to harness the talent and goodwill to best effect within the volunteer force.

How best should a charity align its employee and volunteer strategies?

Our free Masterclass will set out the issues and show how an enlightened approach can reap dividends in enhanced engagement and improved performance.
