Property - The Planning Debate Continues - Localism. What is it?

22 Sep 2010

The Government has placed Localism high on its agenda and it seems to have become the driving force for many of the changes that we have seen in the planning system.

It seems that not a day goes by without some new announcements of changes to the system.

The sudden revocation of Regional Strategies has caused a furore which has left the planning system currently rudderless.  What will be the repercussions of emerging initiatives such as the Community Right to Build, New Free Schools and the reward system for local authorities when they approve new housing?

Is Localism a radical new way forward or is it an excuse for nimbyism?

Amy Richardson, Taylor Vinters’ head of planning, and planning consultants Alison Hutchinson and Keith Hutchinson will chair this latest planning debate and invite you to join in and share your ideas on how Localism can or will work.
