A nine to five day is becoming a thing of the past, according to new research

Working a nine to five day is becoming a thing of the past, according to research by Work Wise UK.
The organisation's study found that that the traditional working week of nine to five, Monday to Friday, is proving inadequate in meeting the demands of modern day business practices.
Stephen Overell, associate director of the Work Foundation, suggested that flexible working practice offers benefits to both employers and employees.
"The smarter use of technology to enable people to work in ways which suit them is definitely something that can help," he noted.
However, he warned that the suggestion "about the nine to five becoming a thing of the past" is probably "a step too far".
Over half of employers (55 per cent) questioned by Hays recently said they welcomed plans by the government to introduce legislation requiring them to offer flexible working to their staff members.
Some 85 per cent of staff said flexible working options would encourage them to stay with a company.
