The UK continues to face a pay gap between male and female workers, with this form of gender inequality still a major issue.

The UK continues to face a pay gap between male and female workers, with this form of gender inequality still a major issue.
That is according to the head of equality at ACAS Steve Williams, who believes that there are a number of reasons why many women employees are earning a smaller amount than their male counterparts.
"The impact of occupational segregation [and] the impact of caring responsibilities disproportionately falling on female employees [both] have the effect of reducing average female pay rates compared to male," he commented.
However, Mr Williams did note that progress that has been made in the recent past when it comes to the issue of gender pay inequalities.
The remarks made by the expert follow research published by the World Economic Forum in the organisation''s Corporate Gender Gap Report 2010.
A number of organisations are failing to employ female workers in senior management roles, the report suggested.
