ARLA: Pre-Budget Report ''should support landlords''
Date posted: 01 Dec 2009
The government should use its Pre-Budget Report to offer more help to landlords operating in the country''s private sector, it is believed.
According to the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), public demand for such accommodation should be matched with ministerial support.
The organisation suggests that a number of measures should now be introduced to help improve the standards of the housing provisions offered by private landlords.

The organisation suggests that a number of measures should now be introduced to help improve the standards of the housing provisions offered by private landlords.
Ian Potter, operations director at ARLA, commented: "What is manifestly apparent is that landlords need governmental assistance in ensuring that stock is of the quality that modern housing standards demand."
Mr Potter added that landlords should also be given more support when it comes to gaining mortgages.
ARLA recently launched a coalition with the National Association of Estate Agents, which aims to encourage ministers to rethink the UK''s current system of Stamp Duty.
Organisations like the Council of Mortgage Lenders are now said to have become coalition partners.
