Charities offered VAT advice through new NCVO helpline

Date posted: 12 Feb 2010

Charities are being offered the chance to gain more information about VAT-related issues following the introduction of a new helpline.

Backed by the financial company Saffery Champness, in collaboration with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), it is hoped that the resource could benefit not-for-profit bodies that are looking to claim back some of their previous VAT payments.

Saffery Champness partner Russell Moore suggests that some of the regulations surrounding VAT payments can be quite complicated.

He commented: "The current economic climate means that it has never been more important for charities to ensure their irrecoverable VAT is kept to the absolute minimum."

Charities that make below £100,000 a year will be able to access the service for no charge, as long as they are affiliated with the NCVO.

Meanwhile, the NCVO recently offered a Valentine''s Day message to members of the public highlighting the importance of charitable donations.ADNFCR-2386-ID-19611067-ADNFCR
