Commercial property sector ''likely to be influenced by green issues''

Date posted: 10 Dec 2009

Sustainability looks likely to become an increasingly important issue within the UK''s commercial property sector, it has been suggested.

According to Clive Bull, a partner at the real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, the recent economic conditions have taken the focus away from environmental issues to some extent.

However, Mr Bull added: "When you look at the institutions that do buy commercial properties, they will look at the green credentials of buildings, so I do think it is becoming more and more important."

The expert went on to say that it could be the organisations actually occupying commercial properties that inspire the introduction of more sustainable measures.

Meanwhile, in the residential property sector, the UK''s energy and climate change secretary Ed Miliband recently announced the launch of the Home Energy Pay As You Save initiative, which aims to help people to install eco-friendly measures in their homes.ADNFCR-2386-ID-19503600-ADNFCR
