Entrepreneurs ''could consider alternative growth sectors''

Entrepreneurs may be encouraged to consider investing in two business sectors that might initially appear unattractive to them, according to one market research company.
While a number of independent retailers may be expected to struggle in the near future, Finaccord has published statistics showing that pest control and waste disposal may offer surprising commercial opportunities.
Its figures show that within the next five-year period, growths of 17 and 15 per cent respectively are likely in the numbers of pest control and waste firms.

"Whilst businesses of all sizes have been hit by the recession, looking to the future and investing in those areas that are set to expand offer real prospects for the future," commented director at Finaccord Alan Leach.
The firm believes that a growth in the two sectors it has highlighted may be put down to things like climate change and EU laws that relate to waste management.
Meanwhile, entrepreneurs may also be able to take advantage of the financial support offered through the government''s Enterprise Finance Guarantee, which was extended for another year in the recent Pre-Budget Report.
