Govt ''should back entrepreneurs with financial support''

People looking to start up their own companies in the new year should be given more financial support from the government, according to the national chairman of one business group.
John Wright of the Federation of Small Businesses believes that those with entrepreneurial ideas could prove important in helping the UK''s economy to recover from the economic downturn.
He has noted that the development of an Enterprise Allowance Scheme for start-up firms should be considered by ministers as it might "provide a small income for those wanting to go it alone in 2010".

Mr Wright, who made his comments during a new year address, has also outlined the potential benefits that small firms could receive if they are willing to consider extending their services by focusing on exports.
Meanwhile, Work Wise UK''s chief executive Phil Flaxton has recently suggested that self-employment may be an attractive prospect for some people who have suffered from redundancy during the recession.
