Members of the UK's coalition government need to urgently deal with the country's lack of housing supply, it has been stressed by one expert.
While waiting lists for housing can be addressed by building more domestic properties, the Home Builders Federation's head of communications Steve Turner feels that the construction of new houses can additionally have a positive impact on employment.
He stated: "There are the implications for jobs - every new house creates 1.5 full-time jobs plus up to four times that number in the supply chain."
At the present time, as many as four and a half million people in the UK are having to put up with waiting lists for accommodation, Mr Turner continued.
Among a variety of proposals which are designed to create more affordable housing, Policy Exchange recently suggested that ministers could consider renewing the right to buy option for those living in social housing.
