Jockey Kirsty Milczarek has announced she plans to appeal against the recent ruling of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) in regard to a two-year ban for taking part in what the organisation described as a lay betting conspiracy.
In addition, Maurice Sines, James Crickmore, Nick Gold and Peter Gold are to appeal against similar sanctions set out by the racing authority, although other members of the 13-person group could yet come forward as they have until Friday (December 23rd) to do so.
A date has not yet been set for the appeal hearing, but it has been announced that the hearing will be chaired by retired lord justice of appeal Sir William Gage.
Paul Scotney, BHA director of integrity services, compliance and licensing, commented following the hearing: "Maurice Sines and James Crickmore, together with their associates, were prepared to corrupt jockeys and to cheat at betting by the misuse of 'inside information'."
