Mr Kelchner added that web users should ensure they scan any attachments they plan to open, in order to improve their security.
He also believes antivirus products should be kept updated.
The expert was speaking after the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report recently suggested that ''rogue'' security software is still a potential threat facing many of the firm''s consumers.
Sunbelt Solutions aims to provide antispam and antispyware products in a bid to help people tighten the security of their computers.
