Nationwide: June witnessed 0.1% house price growth

During the month of June, a 0.1 per cent increase in house prices was witnessed in the UK, new figures have revealed.

UK house prices went up by a figure of 0.1 per cent in the UK during June, according to new statistics, with the average property standing at £170,111.
Figures published by Nationwide have revealed that this compared to the 0.5 per cent growth that was seen in the previous month.
On an annual basis, the firm believes that June experienced an 8.7 per cent rise in house price inflation.
Chief economist at Nationwide, Martin Gahbauer, has noted that the four-week period saw broad market stability.
He stated: "The smoother three month on three month rate of change rose marginally from 1.7 per cent to 1.8 per cent."
The expert added: "Over the first half of 2010, UK house prices have risen by a cumulative three per cent."
Meanwhile, separate figures from Nationwide revealed that the second quarter of this year saw the south-west of England enjoy the strongest house price growth.
