Brendan Barber, the general secretary of the TUC, believes that it is important that the differences between paid and volunteer workers are made obvious.
He commented: "An increasing number of interns and volunteers have been taken on during the recession.
"With so many people concerned about their jobs, it''s vital that employers make a clear distinction."
Meanwhile, Mr Barber has also recently suggested that he wants to see the forthcoming Pre-Budget Report address the issue of unemployment.
