New constitution unveiled for very small charities

A new constitution has been unveiled for very small charities, designed for those with incomes below a level of £5,000.
Produced in collaboration between nine organisations, including the Charity Commission, the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action and Community Matters, it is hoped the document will outline how very small charities can be operated properly.
The Charity Commission''s chief executive Andrew Hind commented that it is important very small charities in the country are governed in an effective manner.

Mr Hind said: "The commission recognises the critical importance of the work undertaken by very small charities in communities throughout England and Wales.
"They form a vital part of the charity sector."
Meanwhile, the Charity Commission recently suggested that bodies that need to prove they are fulfilling their public benefit requirements may now have a five-year period to complete any amendments that need to be made to their existing operations.
