Scottish firms employing agricultural apprentices will need to conform to new minimum wage regulations from autumn this year.
In an attempt to encourage more young people to get involved with the industry, the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board (SAWB) has set a new minimum hourly rate for apprentices, set to come into force on October 1st.
For the first 12 months of employment, the minimum wage will stand at £3.50 an hour.
Meanwhile, employees in the first 26 weeks of work will enjoy an hourly minimum rate of £5.80.

Operating as an executive non-departmental public body, the SAWB is responsible for setting minimum pay rates for Scottish agricultural workers, while that checking other service conditions are met.
Its 17 members represent both the interests of employers and workers in the agricultural sector.
