NHIC director: Green technology needs greater promotion

The benefits of green technologies should be promoted more to the country''s homeowners, an expert believes.

According to the National Home Improvement Council''s (NHIC) director Andrew Leech, people''s awareness of climate change issues needs to be raised in the near future, if environmental issues are to be dealt with.

He noted that the likelihood of colder winter weather means that consumers "will be paying more money for their energy if they are buying it from the utilities".

As a result, "supplementing it with ... renewable energy systems can be a big bonus for them", the expert continued.

Mr Leech was speaking as the government revealed more details relating to its forthcoming feed-in tariff scheme.

By giving householders the chance to create their own energy through the adoption of products like wind turbines, it is hoped that the project could offer financial benefits to property owners over the longer term.ADNFCR-2386-ID-19595117-ADNFCR
