The UK''s public sector could see more pay freezes in the near future, according to one expert.

Duncan Brown, the Institute for Employment Studies'' (IES) director of reward services, suggests that the private sector saw a number of pay deal freezes at the turn of this year.

However, he added: "It will revert fairly quickly. Private sector pay is rapidly going to escalate back up to three per cent, but in the public sector you''re going to see the reverse."

Meanwhile, the government''s women and equality minister Harriet Harman has recently expressed disappointment about the gender pay gap being faced by many employees in the UK''s private sector.
