Steps should be taken to ensure that the student loan problems which have been experienced by many young people this year are not repeated in the future.
That is according to Universities UK president Professor Steve Smith, who believes that action should be taken to improve the system quickly.
Professor Smith made his comments after work was undertaken by Professor Sir Deian Hopkin to look into the issue of recent delays in student loan payments.

He commented: "The concern and anxiety which thousands of students suffered due to the failures identified in today''s report must never arise again."
Meanwhile, Sally Hunt of the University and College Union (UCU) has also given her reaction to the report.
Ms Hunt, the UCU''s general secretary, has said that the parents of university goers may have been financially affected by the student loan delays seen earlier this year, as well as students themselves.
