The country's housing market is likely to slow down in the near future, an expert from Savills suggests.

Over the course of the next six months, the UK's housing market may begin to slow down once more, according to one expert.

The Savills director of research Jacqui Daly feels that this trend may emerge as the economy also begins to slow.

She stated: "Transaction activity is significantly down on the peak of the market [in] 2007. There has been a sharp reduction in sales."

However, Ms Daly did point out that varying housing market trends are being seen in disparate regions of the country, with differences between the north and south making it quite hard to generalise.

Figures published by Santander revealed earlier in the month that as many as 1.1 million people may have failed in their attempts to sell their homes since June of last year.

During the same time period, around 725,000 transactions have successfully been made by UK consumers, the firm suggests.
