A new carbon reduction scheme is to be made available in the near future to entrepreneurs based in the east of England, it has been revealed.
Various universities in the region will offer low carbon advice to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as part of the £2.8 million Low Carbon sKTP initiative.
Firms will be able to take part in the project by focusing on issues such as recycling, as well as how their energy consumption can be lowered.
As many as 331 businesses could benefit from the low carbon scheme, according Dr Tony West, its director.
Dr West, of Anglia Ruskin University, stated: "The Low Carbon sKTP has been designed specifically for those small and medium-sized enterprises looking to achieve a significant reduction in their carbon footprint by changing the way they operate."
Larger companies in the UK may already be required to improve their low carbon performance, in order to adhere to the terms of the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme, which the Labour government introduced in April.
