A number of priorities have been outlined by Jim Paice, the country's agriculture minister, which could help to improve the performance of the Rural Payments Agency (RPA).
Value for money is one area that the organisation should focus more on in the future, according to Mr Paice.
Meanwhile, the politician would also like to see the RPA enhance the accuracy of the information it holds.
Mr Paice described how he is going to take on the role of RPA Oversight Board chair in a bid to try and improve the operations of the body.
He commented: "Our goal is a resilient Rural Payments Agency that is responsive to its customers and that represents good value for the taxpayers' money invested in it."
His remarks follow the publication of an independent review of the RPA which David Lane was involved in.
The RPA's chief executive officer Tony Cooper recently confirmed that he would be retiring from the organisation at the close of this month.
