NCVO: General election provides opportunities for charities

With the general election now only weeks away, the country's not-for-profit groups should aim to promote their causes to prospective parliamentary candidates.
That is according to the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), which believes that now is a good time for charitable bodies to outline what they stand for.
However, the NCVO does emphasise the need for such charities to ensure they stay within the boundaries of election regulations by not favouring a particular party or candidate.

Not-for-profit groups should aim to get on the political agenda, its chief executive Stuart Etherington believes.
"Organisations need to remain non-partisan but this does not mean they cannot approach and speak to candidates for local councils or parliament," he commented.
Meanwhile, in other news, the NCVO has also recently noted the impact that inflation can have on charitable donations.
It encouraged voluntary bodies to raise awareness of the effects of inflation among their regular donors.
