The National Farmers'' Union''s (NFU) head of economics and international affairs has reacted positively to the findings of a recent EU survey which relates to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
According to the NFU, 83 per cent of those people queried in the Eurobarometer research feel that farmers should be aided financially.
The organisation''s Thomas Hind suggests that many farmers need to be provided with funding in order to successfully fulfil their duties.
He stated: "The survey highlights a strong preference for agricultural policy to be determined at EU level.
"This bears out our call against any renationalisation of the CAP or its budget."
Around 27,000 people are said to have been polled in the Eurobarometer research, which was produced for the European Commission.
Meanwhile, the NFU has also recently expressed its belief that a greater emphasis should be placed on agricultural training by the next UK government.
