Many of the rights and responsibilities that apply to education workers have been highlighted in the government's new Teacher's Guarantee.

Rather than spending their time performing administrative duties, the guarantee will aim to give teachers the chance to spend longer periods in the classroom.

Meanwhile, guidance will also be offered to educators, clarifying the instances in which some degree of force might need to be used against unruly pupils.

Ed Balls, the country's schools secretary, believes that the guarantee should provide teachers with the right environment to provide lessons to schoolchildren.

"We will continue to trust in the professionalism of teachers [and] support them to focus on what they do best - teach," he commented.

Mr Balls made his remarks during teaching union NASUWT''s recent annual conference, which was held in Birmingham.

Meanwhile, the government also recently announced the launch of its Inside Knowledge scheme, which is designed to help headteachers learn from the examples set by top-performing schools in their region.
