Many of the country's employees appear to be lacking knowledge about their redundancy rights, new survey results have suggested.
The consumer group Which? gave a number of respondents the chance to answer four questions relating to issues such as redundancy payments.
However, 98 per cent of those queried as part of the study did not manage to correctly answer all the questions that were put to them.
Peter Vicary-Smith, chief executive of Which?, believes it is important for people to be knowledgeable about their employment rights.
He commented: "Our research shows that most people would have absolutely no idea what their rights were if faced with redundancy or a pay cut.
"Ignorance is anything but bliss in these situations."
The threat of redundancy was a cause of concern for 27 per cent of the workers polled by Which?.
Last week, the Office for National Statistics revealed that the UK faced an eight per cent unemployment rate in the three-month period leading up to February of this year.
