UK's small enterprises 'have strong economic importance'

In an economic sense, the country's smaller scale enterprises are very important, one expert has noted.

The economic importance of the UK's small enterprises has been emphasised by the director of one business website.

According to Emyr Williams of Bytestart.co.uk, such firms are capable of providing a number of employment opportunities.

He stated: "Small businesses are hugely important in driving the UK economy.

"They are the most important employer in the UK and are major contributors to the Treasury in the form of tax."

Mr Williams went on to say that small businesses will be helpful in offering jobs to people when the government's public sector cuts start to take effect.

At the present time, he feels that the coalition is demonstrating more of a pro-business attitude than the administration it took over from in May.

Bibby Financial Services recently published survey results which suggested that in the year's second quarter, 72 per cent of small business respondents were adopting a positive outlook concerning trade conditions.
