The UK's wind power sector will need further government investment in the near future, it is believed.
It is not just the technological development of the industry that needs to be supported by the country's ministers, according to a Renewable Energy Centre spokesperson.
She also believes that people need to learn the necessary skills to drive wind power forward.
The expert said: "Whether onshore or offshore, wind energy is vital for energy security, carbon emissions, EU targets and renewable energy generation."
Viable wind power projects need to be given the go-ahead so that the UK remains on course to fulfil its renewable energy targets over the course of the next ten years, she added.
It was recently revealed that the UK's wind farms are now capable of producing as much as one GW of energy.
This could be enough electricity to power 700,000 homes, it has been revealed.
