Ministers have outlined plans to help more of the country's women reach the boards of the UK's listed companies.
It is hoped that the creation of a new business strategy will help to address the nation's existing trends, with Lord Davies of Abersoch aiming to address the present state of affairs.
Edward Davey, the coalition's business minister, has emphasised the need for boards to have a diverse make-up of different people.
He stated: "We want to work with business leaders to remove the obstacles to UK PLC benefiting from the skills and experience of women."
The politician added: "This is not just about gender equality, but about improving performance."
Lord Davies is expected to bring experience to the scheme, having previously acted as the Standard Chartered PLC chairman.
Meanwhile, the government also recently aimed to support the country's businesses with the launch of a trade mission to India.
