Many early-stage companies in the business of supplying products often do not possess the space, equipment, manpower and resource to create their own manufacturing unit. For them it is necessary to outsource such manufacture, often offshore. Critical issues include ensuring quality, timeliness of delivery, flexibility and suitable remedies for non-performance. Similar issues affect small manufacturing clients supplying to others in the supply chain, but from the opposite perspective.
