The development of super-fast broadband capabilities in rural regions of the country is to be supported through the allocation of new government funding, it has been announced this week.
Broadband coverage is to be made available to people in 90 per cent of UK areas, with the aid of finance taken from a £1 billion fund.
Business secretary Peter Mandelson commented that it is not just homeowners who are likely to benefit from improved broadband access, with the government''s plans also expected to have positive implications for the business sector.

"We cannot underestimate the opportunities this will bring for homes and businesses."
